How do people keep their homes cool in the hot Sacramento summer and warm in the cold Sacramento winter? Heat pumps of course! You need comfort, reliability, and efficiency. So that you don’t bake or freeze, and your system doesn’t break down and you save money! Let Bonney take care of your heat pump! Unsure about whether you need to repair or replace, then check here for details.
Reliability: Nothing is worse than your heat pump breaking down in the peak of the Sacramento heat or freeze of the Sacramento cold. Obviously a new heat pump is the most reliable and of course, Bonney installs all brands of new heat pump systems including Rheem, Trane and Lennox. (Check out our New Systems page for more details.) But, not everyone can afford a new system, and Bonney offers heat pump repairs and maintenance on all brands to keep your heat pump running all the time. Whether we do a repair or install a new system, Bonney offers industry leading warranties to protect your investment, meaning peace of mind for you.
Comfort: New heat pumps provide more comfort than older ones. Why? First, variable speed fans in a Bonney air handler provide the right air flow, at the ride speed, for maximum comfort. Second, a new Honeywell zoning system can provide the right temperature, to the right room, at the right time. Third, new thermostats, allow the control you need to keep your home at the temperature you want. Portable, wireless controls, internet access and smart phone apps all provide unprecedented comfort options. Fourth, new heat pumps are available in two stages, meaning high speed to cool or heat your home quickly, and low speed when only a little cooling or heating is needed. It is like having two heat pumps in one providing maximum comfort.
Efficiency: An efficient heat pump means money in your pocket. A new heat pump, packed with modern technology, is always more efficient than an old one. New technology includes variable speed fans, two stage condensers, and fantastic thermostats! But, simple things can be done to keep your current heat pump at its peak! First, try Bonney’s Energy Savings Agreement designed to keep your system running at maximum efficiency. But, if you’ve let your system go too long with the wrong filter or just haven’t changed it, your efficiency can drop substantially! A layer of dust as thin as “Saran Wrap” on your evaporator coil can cut your heat pump’s efficiency by 22%! Bonney’s duct cleaning service includes equipment cleaning, so that your heat pump can run as efficiently as possible, saving you money!
How it works: A heat pump is an air conditioner that works normally when you need to cool your home. Then, it works in reverse when you need to warm your home. Technically speaking, it removes heat from your home as refrigerant is forced to evaporate inside a copper coil. Air is blown past this copper coil and heat is sucked from that air providing the energy that the refrigerant needs to evaporate making your house cool. In the winter time, the whole system runs backwards. Now, refrigerant evaporates in the outdoor portion, sucking heat from the outside and releasing it in the coil inside your home. Even at low temperatures, there is enough heat in the air to keep your home warm. However, at very low temperatures, electric heat strips are used to supplement the heat pump. Bonney also installs dual fuel, or hybrid systems, that supplement your heat pump with a gas furnace or a hydronic coil instead of electric heat strips. Hybrid systems are an incredibly economic and comfortable use of heat pump technology!
